Back from the jungle, and all limbs intact. Last Sunday we took an 8 hour bus to Lago Agrio. The bus company was kind enough to warm us up to what awaits us in the Jungle with a brilliantly spanish dubbed version of the movie Black Water, or Auga Negro. Its a horror film about a human eating alligator in the jungle, and I thought it was a perfect choice. Well done.
Well, no alligator to report, but here is where we stayed:
Pretty fancy, if I do say so myself. There is tons of wildlife that I saw, some monkeys, birds, sloths, spiders, roaches and even.....
... a dolphin? After a few more photos like this (some of just trees too), I settled for just watching the wildlife, and taking creeper photos of other people on the boat.
Much better. We did some jungle walks, actually a fair amount of them. It was pretty funny because we move at like a snails pace for maybe 3 hours and we had a pair of English girls that kept complaining about the length of them. Their travels take them next to the Inca Trail in Peru...I wish them luck, and hope they have some strong porters to carry their asses up to the top.
Some log bridges, no one fell in, much to my disappointment. Being in the jungle for a week, we were expected to endure some rain, and when it rains...it pours.
We went fishing this day. I caught a piranha! Another girl Kerry caught this other type of fish, that when it gets spooked its dorsal fin becomes like a sharp needle. Kerry spooked it alright, she flung it into the boat and it stabbed another guy, Martin, in the back! No photo proof on my camera, but Nellie got a photo of the fish...not in his back though...thought that would of been quite rude....
But a few bananas later, and its all a big laugh, and a nice first time fishing story for Kerrie.
The last day we went to a indigenous community, we found some of their paint made from seeds, the name escapes me now. In general the communities are becoming more modernized, with kids sporting some Hollister and what not. They also tend to speak spanish instead of their native languages. Either way, I have no idea what they are saying.
We had some time to kill so we played a bit of ¨football¨, Thanks to Martin (a much more skillful photographer - with a fancy lens) for the photos, and Dracaena for the adequate footwear.
That was a goal. I am sure of it.
After a game, we headed to Alex´s house (the driver of our boat) where his mom let us harvest, and make some yuca bread.
It´s a little bland but you can make quite a bit of bread from a couple roots of yuca. I graded my hand by accident, so the blood added a little something extra to my bread.
Ok, enough with the blah blah, off to Panama on Monday, for a ticket that I have evidently paid for twice, and two different amounts. Lets hope that gets straightened out, unless one of you would like a flight to Panama on Monday, the more the merrier.
exes and ohs
HAHAHAhahaha...I can't believe you saw a guy get stabbed in the back by a dorsal fin. Incredible. More importantly, it seems like you two are really getting into the groove of adventuring...meeting random people and experiencing a lot of culture. Awesome.

ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of all your adventures!!!...It does seem like you're really getting into it, more so than just plain old touristing around. I love it! And I agree... you are obviously an amazing photographer haha
