Oh hello, fancy meeting you here...
I am writing this from a small, yet touristy town, Boquete. It looks like there is a lot to do, from hiking to biking to climbing, we will see where the day takes us tomorrow. One day in Panama city was definitely enough for us. We met up with a friend of Nellie`s from Smithers which was nice, but Boquete is more our speed. Leaving the city, we hopped a bus to a small beach town first, Santa Clara, and realized why no one knew where it was as soon as we got there. After strolling around for a place to camp, we just set up on the beach.
In the morning we had to pay 3 dollars each for staying there, I am not sure if this man was for real, but he gave me a wrist band, therefore it must be official. I put it on...but we were leaving anyways so it was a pointless exercise. I jumped in the ocean for swim, realized there are a ton of jellyfish, and swam in pretty fast. I look forward to leaking sand from every crease, crevasse and orifice from now until I get home, not to mention the half a pound of sand that is probably stowed away in my backpack. As you can tell, I am a beach bum.
A few bus rides and one on a chicken bus and we made it here. I cant upload photos on this comp, so maybe next time. I am glad no one puked on this chicken bus, more importantly I didn`t either. I have heard some horror stories and hope not to have one of my own.
On an entertainment level, I am finding that J.Biebs has made it to the South and I like it. More importantly english songs are not radio edited, so beeped out words and lyrical changes are a thing of a past, or maybe people here just don`t give a ****!
My aunt was inquiring about food I am eating here, so on a bit of a boring note, I will describe my diet, and perhaps leave out intimate details of my poor functioning digestive system. Generally, I eat a lot of fruit. Its cheap, its fresh, and I like it. Ecuador likes everything fried, and generally with meat, so I ate a lot of rice, a lot of yogurt and bananas. If you say you are vegetarian, they generally give you something with an egg. I have no idea how vegans travel, or function really. We try and keep some good old fashion GORP with us, but nuts are expensive here, and sometimes hard to find. So far Panama is looking pretty ¨Americanized¨ and there seems to be more veggie stuff around...in addition to pizza, burgers and fries. There is a lot of fish here as I am sure you could of guessed....I am assuming I`ll be eating that. I dont know what else to say, so good night folks.
Love to the North!
